Got rid of my dependable Highlander for this Ford hybrid so we could tow it. Have no idea when I will get my car back, as they don't know what to do next. Had to fight like heck to get a rental from the dealership. Couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Had to have it towed to dealer who said they just needed to reset the parameters. After replacing the battery it locked up the whole car, wheels and all. In reading about dead batteries, we bought the larger recommended one when we found our year old hybrid dead. If it doesn't pass like mine have them change out the battery for now. Have them tell you it's from not driving enough miles if the battery passes. Not many states have yet) Have them test the battery and get it on record you are having problems with it. (look up right to repair law, Biden passed a law that only the makers can work on new cars and individual states have to pass laws to over rule them. I guess I will see if the new battery fixes things.Īs for buying a different battery or putting the car on a charger without going to the dealer, why? Did the dealer tell you that it's from not driving it enough? Depending on the dealer they can say changing out the battery voids your warranty if you end up with different problems. From what he understands they are working on finding out if it's the batteries or a firmware update that has to do with unknown electrical draws. There are also problems with the Mavericks that are built on the same platform as the Escape. The tech said he has a verity of 9 Escapes that have non-start issues and 20+ F150's that have non-start issues on the lot. It came back "poorly sulfated/degraded" and they replaced the battery with a new one. The first test past but the tech left the tester on the battery for a few minutes and it went into a different mode and checked the cells. Took it to the dealer and they ran a few test. ![]() I drive more than enough miles to charge. So I have MY23 hybrid that was built in May and a few weeks ago my car was going into deep sleep after 3-5 hours being driven 32 miles oneway 64 total from work and back.
